Solutions for the web printing industry |
EclipseCount is a web press auxiliary device that was originally introduced in October 2006 Its features and ease of use caught the attention of show-goers, and it earned the prestigious "Worth a Look" designation. Two new versions announced in August 2007 Overbridge Technology has responded to the needs of the web printing industry with With the addition of its newest enhancement, FlexCount, EclipseCount-XA now has no comparison in the industry due to the technology and methodology it uses for signature counting. It is 'the' signature counting and log monitoring solution for presses equipped with sophisticated automated signature handling and robotic palletizers. With the FlexCount enhancement on EclipseCount-XA, there are many options to use - either in addition to, or to replace waste weighing:
The varying methods can be used singularly or in combination as the software automatically 'understands' what methods are in place and determines how to process accordingly. Prior to FlexCount, deriving a net count was the result of weight waste and subtracting it from - ZMR (auto-transfer) with automatic form sequencing - stacker jam monitoring with waste count offset, palletizer monitoring and detailed log - load ticket generation with pallet manifest of log content, logs on pallet, forms on pallets, - all press operations and counts are logged and recorded in an open database for The other new version, EclipseCount-CB, is a great solution for those who just need a counting device, and is ideal for pressrooms where operations are recorded by other business systems. It is simple to install and use, and provides the extreme count accuracy of all Eclipse products. More about EclipseCount-DL The original product, EclipseCount-DL, is the ideal solution for good count control and press operation recording with load ticket generation. It easily replaces legacy counting systems in a matter of a few hours. Net good count is obtained via a variety of methods, used singularly or in combination, including but not limited to ratio-metric weighing, in line stream counters, divert gate monitoring, and web-up paper sensing. The system consists of a pedestal mount enclosure, touch screen computer, signal I/O controller, and weigh scale load cell amplifier indicator. The system can be installed as a new installation or as a replacement retrofit for legacy good count systems. In a replacement retrofit installation, the existing press signal wiring and weigh load cell scale platform is used to maximize simplicity and economy. All hardware components contained in Eclipse Count are commercially available and non-proprietary. Production data recorded by the device resides locally, or centrally in either Oracle ®, Microsoft SQL Server®, or Sybase EA Server®.. For maximum uptime data recording, the device contains automatic local database fall back and recovery. The local database is Microsoft MSDE®. The device also contains features for ready integration into existing business systems for look up functionality such as available run lists, operation codes, etc. EclipseCount-DL provides bidirectional IP socket interprocess communication capability for use with Overbridge Technology’s EclipseRoll. Accuracy: The waste count calculation has proven to be within .1% accuracy (1 signature in 1,000 waste signatures on an 8 page 30# stock). Overages and shortages are eliminated. The resulting production database records are a repository of evidentiary data enabling the pressroom to prove correct net good count to downstream processes such as bindery/shipping, and for production performance analysis. Improved Interprocess Control: When used with EclipseRoll, ‘last’, ‘current’ and ‘next’ roll properties are automatically provided to EclipseCount-DL. When using ratio-metric weight as a good count basis, changes in roll properties provide automatic alert and adjustment of piece weight. Additionally, the press operator has real time data available such as impressions and time to splice, impressions remaining, and next roll impressions and properties. Flexibility: Due to the open design, the embedded software can handle from 1 to 4 streams, 1 to 2 finishing devices, up to 4 scales and/or stream counters, and divert conveyors. EclipseCount-DL is installed on single stream presses with net count requirements as Ease of installation: Approximately 4 hours to install a system (subject to presence of press signal connections). Retrofit replacements generally take about 3 hours as the existing platform scale and press signal connections are used. Ease of training: Due to the intuitive interface design coupled to the run event setup flow, training has proven to require a minimum of time. |
