EclipseRoll is a web press auxiliary device for the purpose of developing and recording consumption data by individual roll consisting of 1) true roll linear yield, 2) actual basis weight, 3) roll yield affecting values of wrap weight, strip weight, white core weight, fiber EclipseRoll provides event based production reporting of paper consumption. Used with EclipseCount, consolidated data repository/reporting consists of production event/count consolidated with commodity consumption yield. Production data recorded by the device resides locally, or centrally in either Oracle®, Microsoft SQL Server®, or Sybase EA Server®. For maximum uptime data recording, the device contains an automatic local database fall back and recovery. The local database is Microsoft MSDE®. The device also contains features for ready integration into existing business systems for look up functionality such as available inventory roll data. The system consists of pedestal mount enclosure, touch screen computer, signal I/O controller, and weigh scale load cell amplifier indicator. The load cell amplifier is EclipseRoll provides bidirectional IP socket interprocess communication capability for The intuitive user interface of EclipseRoll has proven to be the key in recording accurate critical yield calculation affecting values of wrap, strip, and remaining paper. The user interface is a touch screen drag and drop with a ‘picture matching’ scheme. The drag and drop uses a rules based algorithm that prevents user data entry errors. The basis weight calculation has proven to be within a range of .3 % accuracy (3/10ths of 1%). The resulting value creates a record of evidentiary data enabling the printer to prove yield on a roll basis to the mill and/or paper owner. When used with EclipseCount, the roll tender responsibilities become focused solely on the preparation and disposition of the roll(s). This is a result of EclipseCount supplying all relevant run event related data (job, form, run, web break reasons, etc.) automatically to EclipseRoll. Additionally, ‘next event’ paper specification changes such as basis weight/width change are annunciated to the roll tender, preventing errors in paper |
